What usually goes wrong
Before we talk technology, here are the three situations I get called about most often. If one of them sounds familiar, the first call will mostly serve to qualify it.
Nobody knows how it works any more
The previous contractor is gone, there is no documentation, and every change has to be renegotiated with someone rediscovering the code.
Releases are frightening
No pipeline, no staging environment, no alerting: you deploy on Friday evening and cross your fingers until Monday.
The quote you received is unreadable
One global budget, no phases, no identified deliverables: you cannot tell what you are buying, nor stop if it goes off track.

No salesperson, no middleman, no junior profile assigned to your project after signature. Whoever scopes the work is the one who delivers it.
You stay the owner
Code, infrastructure, accounts, documentation: everything is yours. You can change provider without rebuilding anything.
You commit phase by phase
A budget, a schedule and identified deliverables, split into phases. You approve one phase before funding the next, never the whole project at once.
